Pastor Allen is an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God. He became the Lead Pastor of Tanglewood Church in March 2009. He and his wife Christy (of 35 years) have served in various ministries over the past 30 years, 16 of which they have been Senior Pastors. Their greatest treasures in life are their 3 children: Josh, 28, Rebekah, 24 and Kayla, 22.
Pastor Allen has a passion to follow Jesus and love people. His unique preaching style, illustrated sermons, and use of audiovisual aides allow him the ability to communicate the Gospel effectively to every generation. His desire is that everyone would know that God has a special plan for their life. His mission is to introduce them to the God of that plan.
Pastor Mitch began his ministry in Arkansas where he attended the University of Arkansas. While in Arkansas, he served as the College/20-Somethings Pastor at Abundant Life Church. After feeling a move from God was in the future, he and his wife, Amanda, and their daughter, Cooper, made the move to North Carolina to serve the student’s at Tanglwood Church.
Pastor Mitch was raised in a pastor’s home and brings this experience with him to the pulpit. His unique style of delivering the Word keeps your attention and helps you get a clear message from the Lord.
Hope Owens leads a dynamic team of many volunteers and children weekly. When it comes to Children’s Ministries, Hope’s passion is to bring children into a personal relationship with Jesus and to equip them to become lifelong followers of Him. She believes that kids thrive spiritually when they are given age-specific programs that are both fun and educational. Hope attended East Carolina University and received a BS in Special Education and a MA Ed in Elementary Education. Before coming to Tanglewood over ten years ago, Hope taught in both public and Christian schools and served as a director of a Child Care Learning Center. Hope has also completed missions assignments in Nigeria, West Africa and the inner city of Atlanta, GA.
Matt is originally from Goldsboro, North Carolina. He is dynamic speaker with a unique ability to communicate the Gospel to people of all ages.
Stephanie comes to us following a music background from Lee University and twelve years of ministry in Phoenix, Arizona as well as several in Eastern North Carolina. Raised in a pastor’s home, she developed a deep love for all the many genres of Christian music. She was a member of the Lee University Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Campus Choir. She is an award-winning songwriter with a passion for genuine worship. With a degree in Business Marketing from Liberty University, she reaches for excellence in ministry and mentoring across each generation. Her strengths are in the areas of script writing, graphics and design, video production, and choral technique. Above all, though, her passion is creating an environment in which the local church is drawn into worship.
She and her husband, Travis, have three daughters, Surlah (26), Alexis (8), and Kenna (2).
